My Favorite Things: Baby

There are lots of things that i have opinions on, and quite a few baby items i like.  Alot of my friends ask about different items, what are best... etc.  And, since 2 of my really good friends are having their babies this week! I thought i would start off by listing some of my must haves.
Dr. Brown bottles- the only bottle other than the heiberman that Bethany would take.  Ben never would take any bottle, but Bethany would only take this one (and i tried them all, because i was trying to get her off the heiberman).  There is a little tube thingie that is extra to clean, but it is what keeps the air bubbles out of the baby's tummy.  So many of my friends also agree this is the only bottle to consider.  Use the other bottles you get for milk storage.
Pampers Sensitive wipes- When Bethany was a baby, she always was getting a diaper rash.  Finally, i tried the Pampers sensitive and her rashes were not so frequent.  So when Ben was born, these are the only ones i've used.  I like Pampers over Huggies sensitive, because they are not so think and sticky.   I just recently bought Huggies, because they were on sale and a good deal,  but i'm not happy with them.  Funny thing, Ben got a bad diaper rash since using them... but they may not be the culprit.
Boppy-  I had one with Bethany, but since she only took bottles, i ended up using it for a prop only.  But with Ben, i couldn't nurse him without it!  Because of that, i had 3- one at church, one in the car, and one at home.   As he got older, he associated nursing so strongly with the Boppy, that he would go and pull it around the house until i would sit down with him.
Pampers swaddlers- This one isn't what i would call a nessisity, because they are so expensive.  But you can get a good deal on them alot.  But from newborn to when they're about 3or 4 months,  they are the best diapers out there. You can even get the sensitive ones, which have a cool stripe on them that tell if the baby is wet.   (that's especially important when they are a few days old and you are counting diapers).
Aaveeno Baby Wash- the one with the navy cap- Bethany had very dry skin, and this is the only wash i used on her until she was 2.  It is so thick and moisturizing, even good for my skin!  I've used it on Ben, but again, i got a really good deal on Johnson's baby moisturizing wash (the pink bottle) i've been using it instead lately, but i plan to go back to the aveeno.   He doesn't have as dry skin as Bethany did.  DO NOT USE Johnson's baby wash (the yellow bottle). I know it is the classic, the one hospitals use, blahblahblah... but it is so drying to the baby's skin.  My dr. agreed with me, saying it is the worst for the baby!
Robeez or Bobux shoes- Robeeze you can get online or at Stride Rite stores, Bobux are at Target.  The shoe has a flexible leather bottom, and leather tops, and they have elastic around the ankle.  These shoes stay on the baby!   They are best when the baby is learning to walk, because it keeps their toes flexible.  I had two adorable pair for Bethany- ones with lady bugs and ones that said "i love mom, and i love dad".  i've got three pair for Ben.   They are the only shoes for when they are learning to walk!
Oxy clean pre-treater- I used to swear by Shout, but then a friend told me that oxy was better... and it is.  it will take out most of the stains we get.  if it doesn't, then i have to bleach it.  spit up, chocolate, grass... whatever.  good stuff.
Bouncer seat- I had a friend give me one when Bethany was a couple months old.  it is the must have thing for when they are so tiny.  Alot of friends use the bumbo seat, but i used my bouncer all the time.  if i had to take a shower, if i had to have my hands free for anything, they could sit and play with the little toys attached to it.  Especially came in handy when i started keeping Z-  she could sit in it, and take her bottle, while i nursed Ben at the same time.  Must have.
Sign up:
Publix Baby Club-go here to sign up.   You get awesome coupons for the first 18 months, including alot of free items the first time (like lotion, johnson's baby kit, baby food, etc) plus diaper coupons you can stack with other coupons, so that you end up getting a big box of huggies for $8. (that's what i did at least).  Also, i think first time moms get a book about health.
Rutherford Books from Birth- go here to sign up.  You get really good books (starting with The Little Engine that Could hardback) every month until age 5.  I got Bethany started when she was about 6 months, then didn't think i could get Ben on it because we already had the books.  Found out he could get different books.  oops.  He just got his first book today. Free, by the way.
Huggies.com and Pampers.com- Both have a rewards program, which i missed the boat on.  I wish i had signed up when i was pregnant and entered in all those codes... you can turn codes that you get inside packs of diapers and wipes into free stuff like gift cards and toys and stuff.  But it's too late, because i don't think i have enough time to accumulate much... but i reccomend anyone signing up to try for it anyways!  Also, by signing up with the website, they will send you coupons for $$ off diapers. good thing to do.
Good things to do:
StoneCrest Hospital offers a free breastfeeding support group on Wednesdays for nursing moms.  Keri and Joy are the lactation nurses there, and they have a free, open to anyone (you don't have to deliver at that hospital to be a part of it) support group.  any question you have about nursing they are there to answer, and you don't have to pay to see them.  I can't sing enough praises for Joy and Keri.  Joy probably saved Bethany's life, and both helped so much with Ben.  They are awesome and will help with any nursing problems.  Also, they have a lactation shop that sells all kinds of accessories.
Smyrna Books and Babies meets friday mornings at 9:30 and 10:30.  Sandy and Katie will sing, read books, and dance while the babies half way pay attention.  All my babies love it!  Its a fun free thing to do to get out of the house.  I'd say it was for babies 3 months to 18 months (or so).
Ok, so i'm done.  Are there any things that you used that you couldn't have a baby without?
